Christian Herring was born and raised in North Carolina. In the Fall of 1999, he felt the clear and unmistakable call to preach. In 2005 he moved to Stanly County after serving in the NC National Guard and graduating from Western Carolina University with a B.S in History. It was then that he began serving as a youth director in a local church, began his seminary education, and met his future wife, Andrea. In the winter of 2009, he and Andrea were married, and in the Spring of 2010, he graduated from Hood Theological Seminary with his Master of Divinity. In 2011 Christian and Andrea were called to Kendalls Baptist Church in New London and served there for seven years. During their tenure at Kendalls they welcomed two of their four children into their family, and in the Fall of 2018, Christian earned his Master of Theology in Church History from Liberty University. Later in 2018 the Herrings were called to a church plant on the North shore of Badin Lake where they served for four years until the summer of 2023.
Christian is passionate about teaching and preaching God’s Word to God’s people. He and Andrea also share a deep commitment to family discipleship and family integrated worship. They are convinced that that is God’s design for raising up the next generation in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord.” He and Andrea run Oaks Classical Christian Academy in Albemarle, a hybrid-model classical, Christian school. They have four children; Carter, Adalyn, Grayson, and Lewis. First and foremost, Christian is a child of God, saved by grace through faith. Next, he is a husband and a father, then a pastor/preacher/teacher.
